A Dumpling Feast - 2025

Five spices, five elements, and the fifth year of Cluain's annual dumpling feast! Join us in the Middle Kingdom by booking here! Bookings will be capped at 50 this year, and will close 13 June at midnight. Late bookings will be added to a waitlist, but we cannot cater for food allergies in the waitlist, so please book early!

During a particularly bad winter, Zhang Zhongjing is said to have noticed many people with frostbitten ears. To warm the people, he wrapped meat, vegetables, and herbs into dough and formed them into the shape of an ear and boiled them and served them to the people of his village.

We plan to have less frostbite and more dumplings than the story above! We will start off at 2:30pm with a lion dance, followed by snacks, calligraphy, chopstick making, tea and medieval Chinese games - a prize for the biggest winner in games this year! The feast will be served around 6:00-6:30pm, with many types of dumplings, char siu, and other delicious dishes. If you have any questions about the event, please e-mail the webwright, or ask a question on the Cluain e-mail listserv, or the Cluain Village Green.

When: 28 June 2025, 2:30pm-9:00pm (site opens at 1:00 for setup, closes at 10:00pm). Lion Dance starts at 2:30 to open the event.

Where: Hardy Guide Centre (near Hamilton Gardens)
