Officer Reports
Reeve - Nate
In contact with Reeves about Xero via Facebook. Some reimbursements have been made.
Marshal - Roger
Marshal report submitted to the Baronial and Kingdom officers. Fighters practice continues as time and weather permits.
A&S - Michelle
Collegium has been organised and advertised. Have approached, and will continue to approach, various members to run some A&S workshops next year.
Chatelaine - Natty
Report submitted via email. Work on newcomer’s page continues.
Herald - Trent
Had a chat with Cheryl about submitting heraldry. There is a heraldry workshop in Australia, August 2020, which Trent might attend and/or may attract a herald from that event to come to Cluain.
Webminister - Melissa
Draft maps have been made. Testing website has been created on Lochac servers. Administrative issues are being sorted. Cluain website has been summarised and included in a word document, which will be emailed later.
Seneschal - Michelle
Tavern Games night went well. 24 people attended and had a good time. Using slow cookers to cook the meal was a success, however having some of them turn up from Auckland caused some delay. The site was good and inexpensive, only downside is it’s on Level 3 and there isn’t a lift. Would be nice to improve the non-flame lighting so they throw out more light. Would like to make this a recurring event. There were 7 newcomers (6 from Auckland and 1 from Cluain) who attended. Perhaps coincide with a Hastilude event to reduce the number of weekends used up.
Ildhafn ran an afternoon/evening event and as there were very limited kitchen facilities they had everyone ‘bring a plate’ for the feast, which worked well. Think this would be a good idea to use in similar situations or if having trouble sourcing a feast cook.
Collegium is advertised and bookings are open (4 bookings so far). At this stage there are 11 classes being run.
Currently trying out the hall at Te Puke, which boasts an open fireplace. The kitchen has a fridge and stovetop oven. There is bench seating on two sides of the hall. If needed, is possible to do rapier and heavy inside. There is outdoor space for archery. Seems to have potential. If we brought cushions, period chairs, rugs, could run a Persian themed event.
Hire fees: $20 morning or afternoon or evening / alternatively $10 evening if booked with afternoon.
Action: Liz to purchase 10 metres of 10 mop silk for Group banners. To look at getting silk paints, brushes, squeeze bottles, storage container(s) as required.
Moved by Sue. Seconded by Michelle. All present in favour.
Potential Hastilude project: Linen food coverings / linen spice bags for stews, soups, etc.
Next Hastilude: 21 September 2019, at Eureka, 2:00pm. Masterclass in [Topic from collegium]?
